We filmed at a conference on Rural Areas, helping them to reach a Europe-wide by streaming online as we filmed. The sessions have also been made available online. However, the conference organisers also wanted a quick snapshot of the conference, and the field trip the following day. So we got out walking boots on, clambered on the bus and tagged along, bringing all the footage together to give an idea of how the whole conference went And the organiser gives us a great testimonial for how the streaming went!
You can find out more about the conference here.
Vital Rural Areas Conference streaming
by Gavin Ricketts
Today we streamed a conference centred around issues facing rural areas, so depopulation, access to broadband, financial stability.
The most memorable workshop was this one where the speaker used a dead tree to get delegates engaged!
The stream went well, especially since the hotel chosen was appropriately in the middle of the Norfolk countryside, and their broadband connection was initially limited, but we managed to get it boosted!

Us Now
On Tuesday we filmed at the launch of the Us Now documentary, streaming the discussion afterwards live. It’s a great documentary, showing how social interaction via the web is enable groups to become more organised, exchange views and ideas, interact and engage. Definitely worth watching, see the full documentary on their site.

Last Friday we streamed the Digital Britain conference.
It was a really interesting event, some great speakers. One interesting comment came from Jess Search, Chief Executive, Channel 4 Documentary Film Foundation, who said a recent MORI poll showed that while people valued documentary content almost as highly as fiction content, they were willing to spend only a fraction of their money to watch it. Another from Lynne Brindley, Chief Executive of British Library, who said that children have vast access to information, but they lack the ability to judge the quality of that data.
The highlight for us, however, was being snapped by Stephen Fry, who posted the shot through his Twitter. You can see us bottom right with the camera.

Today we streamed the Norfolk Green Strategy conference from the King’s Centre in Norfolk, so participants unable to attend in person could still engage with the conference.
Norfolk is under great pressure from global warming, given that even a relatively small rise in sea levels will flood areas of East Anglia. This pressure is ever increasing since Scientists revise their estimates of how quickly this will happen on a seemingly monthly basis, and not in our favour.
Sometimes, the mounting evidence of how the Earth is really going into meltdown gets overwhelming, so it was inspiring to hear positive ideas of how we can rethink how we live our lives to be have less impact on the environment.
The key moment for me was when asked whose responsibility was it to lead climate change, the room was unanimous that it was our responsibility as individuals to be more environmentally conscious, not something that should be left to government.
The leaf is one of the pledges that attendees made to signify their intention to help address these issues.

Yesterday we were in Brussels streaming the Public Service 2.0 conference, where a wide range of speakers came to talk about their web 2.0 projects, all of which were based around government topics. The conference was organsied by FutureGov.

We streamed the conference live through our ConferenceXtra service, a collaboration with Gallomanor. People could watch the conference live and join in the conversation through a chat room. We had people from as far afield as London, Italy and America!
As most of the people were avid twitterers, we managed to hit Twitter’s scoreboard of most tweeted topics!
You can read the twitter chatter here.

Last week we filmed a conference for Norfolk County Council, at which Meera Spillett was the keynote speaker.
The key discussion topic throughout the day was the CAF, a process used to co-ordinate child support services. It was really uplifting hearing talk of how this process has helped children facing a wide range of challenges.
This project is part of our ConferenceXtra, the new service we’re providing in collaboration with Gallomanor, one of our long standing clients. We aim to help bring conferences to as wide an audience as possible, through streaming and social media.

Yesterday we filmed at the eVoice conference, held in Norwich. Was a very interesting day, lots of talk about how to make eDemocracy work.
The key event, of course, was the premiere of our latest project, the CivicSurf documentary. It’s a documentary following three local councillors as they set up and run blogs to communicate with their local constituents. This will be posted online shortly.
Moving politics into the internet world seems to have a lot of success, but also can be hard to implement. More thoughts later, as we have two projects to deliver today!
