We stumbled on this Twitter schedule that the US Army follows with, well, military precision.
In our #GetMeSocial workshops we always say that Social Media is another mouth to feed, and a greedy one at that. This timetable helps prompt and guide their content, making sure during the week the various themes of their work are covered.
I also like the way they’ve added stats at the bottom, showing how successful that day was – a great way to monitor your progress.

Yesterday we held our first GetMeSocial workshop, a follow up to the Social Media presentation we gave earlier in the year, and was concentrating on the nitty-gritty of actually setting up accounts. So four attendees sat there with their laptops, being taken through what all the options are for Twitter and WordPress. Well, not all… both are incredibly powerful tools, and trying to get through all the intricacies of how they work in the space of three hours was tough!
Still, by the end of the session, they were all set up, and had a better understanding of how they could use Social Media on their business. And we’re getting tweets from them already!

My Pug Leon has a Twitter account. It started as an experiment in Twitter, back in May 2007.
As Twitter developed, he started finding other Pugs to follow. Then conversations taking place. Now he uses it to share fun photos of himself, note particularly good places to walk, plus ask questions about Pugs. He was offered banana, and didn’t know whether it was healthy for him. He asked his followers, and within 20 mins had five or six answers that yes, banana is good for him.
Anyway, the RSPCA are launching their Get Puppy Smart campaign about what to think about when getting a puppy, based around a lovely animation. They wanted to spread the word, so they searched Twitter for influential dogs, and Leon came to their attention. So he is now sharing this link with his followers, who are in turn retweeting.
A great example of how Social Media can be used to reach niche audiences, who are passionate about what you’re trying to promote, and can do (part of!) your marketing work for you!

Yesterday, we got another email asking us to quote from a company we have never had contact with. When I asked how they heard of us, they said:
I found you via google search
![]()
I believe your services and portfolio are just right for my project’s requirements.
They found us through googling “subtitling video production” – I know this because I can see what search engine terms brought people to our blog. They then browsed the site, and liked what they saw. We’re now discussing budgets, and they probably have’t even looked at our static site, only the blog! And keep in mind we spend absolutely nothing on google ad words, we’ve just been blogging and twittering regularly for years and gradually built up our content to start working in our favour in search engines.
Last week, I wanted to see an osteopath for a sports injury I had recently. There’s one literally next door to my office. I googled and could not find him, even though I searched for the exact street he was on. Other practitioners had spent so much on ad words etc, that he didn’t even appear on the first page. When I saw him, he said he only has a very simple website, and does no SEO/social media. So no one can find him even if they’re looking and know his address!
If you’re a small business and looking for practical help to get your Social Media strategy kick started, check out our GetMeSocial service.
We had a great time this morning doing our first presentation to launch GetMeSocial, a service which helps companies develop a social media strategy that can really work for them.
We were invited to present by the nice people at ELBP, the event had a really good turnout with attendees from businesses of varying sizes and with varying levels of social media knowledge and experience. We’ve had some very positive feedback already and a few of the attendees have already started interacting with us through twitter. It’ll be very interesting to see how their social media presence develops over the coming months!

I’ve been putting the finishing touches to some touches to some new marketing materials today, including some testimonials. Sometimes it gets hard writing about your business. How you’re great. How you do a good job. How you’re a nice company to work with who also deliver good results.
So it was nice to see a thread of conversation on Twitter, which started from someone complimenting Carrie from Simpl, one of our clients on the video we created for them. Then Shane from Gallomanor and Justin from FutureGov chipped in. Gave me a completely unprompted boost to get the marketing finished!
This kind of unprompted, public testimonial is one of the great things about Twitter. If you want help building up your Social Media presence, check out GetMeSocial.
If you want to read the conversation, start at the bottom and work your way up.

Knead’s Must is a long terms client of ours. We’ve created a full DVD explaining how to use their revolutionary massage tool the Kneader, which goes inside the retail package. We’ve also shot some marketing material to help increase sales.
Now that they’re ready to really start promoting the project, KML’s Founder Una Tucker came to us for our GetMeSocial service, where we help small business understand the power of Social Media, and then help them set up the various accounts and profiles to build their own presence. Our aim is not to run these account for them, but to enable them to benefit from our years of Social Media experience, promoting our own and our client’s products and services, so they can quickly get their Social Media strategy up and running.
After consulting with KML, we helped them with:
- which accounts to set up and why
- graphics and colours to helping them create a consistent look between their main branding and website
- advice on keywords and categories to maximise SEO
- strategy development in terms of what kinds of content to write about
- creating a realistic schedule to prompt action, and also to act as a way of reviewing what activity has been achieved
The blog is in early stages at the moment and you can read it here.

We’ve been working with Space NK for a couple of months now, creating content for their social media sites. With the latest one we were focusing on new brand Kjaer Weis, one of the few organically certified make up brands.
You can see it in situ on their Facebook profile.

We recently filmed a really fun video of The Kneader, the maiden product from our client KneadsMust. We were asked to create the video to be used as part of the Barclays Make One Small Step competition, which helps to support start-up businesses.
Our idea was to film an interview with the founder, Una Tucker and then to film The Kneader in action, giving a real, human response to the product. We also added elements to the film to specifically target the viewers of the competition entries, such as animated graphics.
When creating videos that are intended for a specific event, it’s always helpful to try and think long term. So to offer a great ROI, our approach was to rework the video, so that it not only served its purpose for the competition, but in the long run provided our client with real video evidence of customers enjoying her product. She can use this to show to potential buyers of her product at any meeting.
This was my first role as director and proved to be a very helpful exercise in improving my skills. We filmed in two locations, had to coach staff and customers into giving a great performance for the video and in the end our client was very happy with the video. I even managed to make a sneaky appearance in it myself!…

We were very pleased to be asked to work with Space NK again this week.
After working with Space NK in February on the launch of the new Wei products in their stores, we were asked to shoot an interview and demonstrations for the launch of the new Kjaer Weis range in their stores.
We advised Space NK on how to create the video specifically for their Social Media sites, including their facebook page.
