Want to get a video signed off while the Client’s on Holiday? Send it to his mobile…

One of our clients was away on holiday without access to the internet. He did, however, want to keep moving on the documentary project we were working on. The first draft of the graphics were completed and we wanted to get them to him for his approval.

So we encoded them for 3G on the Avid, transferred them to a memory card, put the card in a mobile and sent it out as a video message. Within a few moments, the client was sat on the beach watching the clip. He give comments and we moved on to draft two.

There are limitations of course; the quality was not great, and on a mobile to mobile situation there are restrictions in terms of duration. However, as a tool for reaching those Clients who want to be reached but can’t necessarily get to the internet, it more than did the job, and kept us moving towards completing the project on time!

Research at Iowa State University has show that playing violent computer games for just 20 minutes numbs players to real-life vilonece.

Games with high body counts desenstised players to violence in their daily lives. Two groups of students were monitored, one playing violent games, then other non-violent. After playing, the groups were shown footage from TV programmes and film which featured shootings and prison violence, then tested for their emotion responses, measured by heart rate and persperation. Those playing the violent games had “lower physiological responses.”

However, computer games need not only have a negative influences; a separate study has show that online multi-player games can boost sociability, helping players learn how to interact with the word.
